At ‘and the dish ran away with the spoon’, we freshly bake, ice and hand decorate the yummiest cupcakes, brownies and slices every day and deliver them across Didsbury & Manchester. A lot of love goes into each and every item we make, and we use local, fair-trade and organic ingredients wherever we can.

It is our firm belief that there is always a good excuse to eat great home-made cake! That’s why we love nothing more than to provide our lovely treats for your special occasion - from weddings and birthdays to hen-dos and office parties, or simply because you feel you’ve been good enough this week! (p.s. we think you have too!).

The Bakers

In March 2008, Anna & James came home from a winter ‘down under’. Inspired by the amazing cakes they tried on their trip, they returned with a sweeter tooth, slightly bulging waistlines and a determination to start their very own cake revolution!

So the clever one (Anna), jacked in her steady job, donned an apron, grabbed a wooden spoon and set about some serious baking…and hey diddle diddle, ‘and the dish ran away with the spoon’ was born!

It wasn’t long before Anna began to craft some very tasty creations. So she dusted the flour from her eyebrows, and took them out to the masses at Piccadilly farmers market in central Manchester. The good people of Manchester seemed to like her little treats, so she hot-footed it back to the kitchen and churned out some more…

…and you can now get your hands on our yummy range of cakes and cupcakes in manchester at several farmer’s markets and cafes around the city. We even make the odd appearance at foodie and music festivals too!
